Company: WHPacific

Challenge: Create a strong sense of community for the Inupiat House through design
Clients: State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities

Inupiat HouseWHPacific (formerly ASCG) was responsible for the design and construction administration of the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation's Inupiat House Shareholders Dormitory located on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. From the beginning of the project, the importance of developing a strong sense of community for the Inupiat House was a strong driving force shaping the design concept. This concept helped generate the small, somewhat internally focused village atmosphere of the design. The project consisted of five detached buildings composed of male and female dormitories to house 29 students, a computer lab, laundry facilities, one and two-bedroom apartments, a community house, resident manager living quarters, and guest quarter.
