David W. Márquez is senior vice president and chief operating officer of NANA Development Corporation (NDC). NANA is an Alaska native corporation, owned by the Iñupiaq people of northwest Alaska. In 2011, NANA had nearly $2 billion in revenue. NDC is the business arm of NANA. Operating in all 50 states, 7 countries and 4 continents—NDC’s 50 subsidiary companies report to Márquez. NDC companies are actively involved in a variety of services including: engineering & construction, government contracting, facilities management, hotel development & property management, and services to the oil, gas & mining industries.  

A graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin Law School, Márquez was admitted to the Alaska bar association. Throughout his 38-year career, he has played an active role in the development of Alaska’s natural resources.  He served as Alaska’s attorney general under Governor Frank Murkowski.  Prior to his public service, Márquez was an executive in the oil industry; he was chief counsel for both Phillips Alaska and ARCO Alaska, as well as general counsel for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company. He also served as vice president of external affairs and environment, health & safety for ARCO Alaska. He has served as a trustee for the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, and as state trustee of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Fund. He also served as co-chair of the Alaska Rural Justice and Law Enforcement Commission.
